Sometime back I had blogged about how I had used the Olympic march-past to get the correct pronounciations for country-names that I was translating at that point of time. Unfortunately, that post got deleted when www.randomink.org faced a bandwidth crunch. 😦
Anyways, going back to what this post is about. In case you want to follow suit, always remember to listen to the announcer in the stadium and not the one blabbering in the studio. I noticed the discrepancy while watching the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The Aussies surely know how to sparkle up the celebrations. And I really loved the umbrellas displaying the country names. The girls carrying them looked Mary Poppins-ish but it was all kind of cute.
